About us

Pioneering atmospheric & environmental science

Atmospheric Research and Educonsult (AREC) is a UK-registered Community Interest Company specialising in environmental research, air-quality monitoring, scientific consultancy and capacity-building programmes.

Our mission

Science that reaches the people it affects

Our multidisciplinary team provides technical expertise, analytical services and policy-relevant environmental solutions to government agencies, academic institutions and industry partners in the UK, Nigeria and other regions.

As a Community Interest Company, our surplus is reinvested into research and training - including the AREC Learning Portal, where our capacity-building programmes are delivered and continued online.

What we value

How we work

Evidence over opinion

Every conclusion is traceable to validated data and a documented method.

Local capability

We build skills in the institutions we work with, not dependency on us.

Open collaboration

We work alongside regulators, universities and industry rather than around them.

Community impact

Research is judged by whether it improves the air people actually breathe.

Partnership

AREC × EarthSense Systems

A strategic partnership signed at the National Space Centre, Leicester, combining advanced air-quality monitoring technology with deep regional expertise to support industry and regulators at scale.

  • Strong foundation within Nigeria's industrial sector
  • Enhanced local partnerships and regulatory alignment
  • High-quality, data-driven insights at scale
  • Accelerated long-term impact across West Africa
"EarthSense's advanced technology, combined with AREC's growing international reach, creates a powerful platform for scientific innovation, capacity-building and evidence-based environmental action."
Dr Emmanuel Bernard - Director / Lead Researcher, AREC

Our impact

Education that reaches beyond the classroom

Every programme is measured on what learners, teachers and communities can do afterwards, not on attendance alone.

Testimonials

What families, teachers and volunteers say

Feedback from the people our education programmes are built for.

My daughter went from avoiding science homework to explaining particulate matter at the dinner table. The tutors make it practical and she never feels left behind.

Adaeze O.

Parent, Lagos

The AREC teacher sessions gave us experiments we can actually run with the equipment we have. Our pupils now collect their own air-quality readings each term.

Mr. Bassey E.

Science teacher, Abuja

Volunteering on the outreach programme showed me how research turns into something a community can use. It shaped the postgraduate route I chose.
